A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Alan’s notes ahead of today’s game

Good afternoon, welcome to Turf Moor for our game against Arsenal.

Our challenging fixture schedule continues with today’s visitors in fine form in the league.

We arrive back on home turf following last Saturday’s trip to Anfield. Despite the result I believe there were many aspects of our performance that we can be proud of. We went to Anfield to give Liverpool a game and for large parts of the 90 minutes we showed our style and the talent we have within the squad.

I echo Vincent’s words that week in, week out, improvement is being shown. We have been in games and unfortunately on occasions it’s been small margins or an element of bad luck that has resulted in us not taking away the three points.

Our new January signings have settled in well and it’s fantastic to have them onboard. We are all pushing in the same direction to achieve the same goal, we’re doing it together, with belief and determination.

Today’s game marks a special date in the calendar as it’s the Premier League’s More than a Game fixture and we are celebrating the work of our official charity Burnley FC in the Community. It’s the charity’s 10th anniversary and they are celebrating 10 years of heroes.

Opening its doors in 2014, Burnley FC in the Community set out on a mission to positively impact and transform the lives of people in our community. Ten years later and the organisation reopened much-loved local landmark Whitehough Outdoor Centre so it can be enjoyed by adults and children of all ages. They feed thousands of families and individuals across Lancashire through the Burnley FC in the Community Foodbank, opened state-of-the-art leisure facility The Leisure Box in Brierfield offering sports, health and wellness activities and that’s not to mention the 50 community projects ranging from football, health, education and mental wellbeing.

I’m incredibly proud of the work they carry out daily. They play such an important role in this football club, and I’ve been privileged to see the difference they are making firsthand.

The charity will be hosting activities around the stadium this afternoon so please do take a look and show your support. It’s the work that they do, the people that they help and the long-lasting impact they are making that shows that football really is so much more than a game.

Finally, thank you to all the fans who have travelled with us in recent games, we hear you and your support does not go unnoticed. Today we have the opportunity to get a home crowd behind us, so let’s give Vincent and the team our backing.

As ever, UTC!

Alan
